Sept. 10 – Oct. 9, 2011
To kick off our new season of exhibits, we are presenting a collection of Black & White works
Opening Reception: Saturday, Sept. 10, 6 – 9 p.m.

Six artists create black and white pieces using various media:
Izzeldinn Kojour (watercolour and ink), Jorge Restrepo (mixed media with shoe polish and pencil) Michael Gibson (pencil), Miranda Mafe (ink), Pita Ohiwerei (oil), Salomon Khammi (encaustic)

The contemporary watercolour paintings of Izzeldinn Kojour depict elements of Sudanese lifestyle and culture in a semi-abstract form. They combine Arabic influences and add an Eastern flavour to African symbols and motifs to express the uniqueness of his cultural intermarriage. While living in London, Ontario, Kojour has showcased his Sudanese heritage to the globe exhibiting in Africa, New York, Paris, the Middle East and Toronto and other parts of Canada.

Jorge Restrepo's work is abstract. His Black Moons series on paper is graphic, geometrical and minimalist. Restrepo is an award-winning contemporary artist that have exhibited and collected across Latin America, Canada, Europe, Mexico and the US. Originally from Honduras, Restrepo now lives and practices art in Bogota, Colombia.
